To Whom It May Concern:
It is with much enthusiasm that I write this recommendation for Meredith Faltin. I have had the pleasure of working closely with Meredith for the past two years as her professor. As a graduate student, Meredith showed a potential for teaching children with disabilities through her presentations in class, discussion of her work with her peers, and her fluid understanding of the principles of behavior analysis. Meredith completed stellar work in her case studies, class discussion, and her enduring effort to take what she learned into the classroom and apply it to all the children she worked with, both students with and without disabilities.
As a professor, many of the students I have worked with strive to apply the material discussed in class in order to achieve a higher G.P.A. Meredith, in her questions, examples, and attendance in office hours was different. Her priority was to the students that she was currently working with and would seek support and additional strategies to not only enhance her own understand, but to effect a positive change in the students that she was working with. As a teacher, more important than knowing what to do in circumstances and learning and behavior challenges that your children present with, is the desire to seek out appropriate strategies and best practice to help your children when you have hit a wall. Meredith, while she has a strong skill set, also strives to continually enhance this skill set in order to implement the most effective strategies to her own students. This evidenced an important skill set that is necessary to be a strong teacher as adapting and modifying instruction is key to individualizing supports for children with disabilities.
Meredith also brings unique skill sets and experience that can be utilized to enhance instruction and engage young learners. Her background as a soccer coach for children with special needs, and training in theater, will only strengthen her teaching effectiveness. Meredith has a wonderful combination of patience and compassion for her students. Meredith is guided by best practice and the application of the principles of behavior analysis ethically.
Meredith is dedicated, attentive and insightful as a student, and future colleague. Her passion for learning, teaching, love of children, and desire to identify effective, yet innovative and individualized, academic, social and behavioral interventions for student with disabilities is apparent in her teaching, work, and interaction with her students and their families.
